LaBelle is located in Hendry County, west of West Palm Beach, on State Road 80 between Clewiston and Ft. Myers, on the banks of the
Caloosahatchee River near Lake Okeechobee. LaBelle was chartered in 1925, and is the county
seat of Hendry County.
The city is a town of gentle. It is a graceful blend of water and earth that lured the early settlers to the area and the reason that so many call it their home.
Many of the people that live in LaBelle are descendants of the early settlers; others that are new to the area help with the growth in the community. Organizations, clubs and groups have been formed with the growth of the community.
The city hosts a number of special events throughout the year. Many events involve the whole community as well as outside visitors.
Many youth organizations in LaBelle have earned state wide reputation for excellence.
LaBelle's economy is based primarily on agriculture, the production of citrus, vegetables, cattle and sugar cane. Besides work, many outdoor leisure activities can also be enjoyed in the area.
